Family is a deeply personal and intimate album. It's more stripped down and ambient than my previous records and explores the themes of unconditional love, the innocence of childhood, profound loss and a plea for human justice.

You are the sea; I am the shore. You’re always washing over me and I need you, nothing more. And I wanna give you everything starting with this song I sing and love endlessly. I will be the giving tree and you can be the boy. Your smile is the sun; my eyes love the rays. Our story has just begun. We will write it the rest of our days. And we will have everything, starting with this song I sing, and love endlessly. I will be the giving tree and you can be the boy. We will have everything starting with this song I sing and love endlessly. I will be the tree… I wanna give you everything, starting with this song I sing. And we’ll have love endlessly. I will be the giving tree and you can be the boy. You’re the boy.

Family 04:20
Quickly fading, shrinking in size. Slowly waving, I hate long goodbyes. Past the schoolyard and the market, monkey bars and lovely gardens. Strawberries are perfect this time of year. Gently braking to see more as I go. Softly weeping, leaving all I know. General store and picket fences, In that gym were high school dances. Children dressed so nice head in for Sunday school. Neighbors gather on their porches. They love their families not their fortunes. What if all the world felt like one family?

Here Today 04:21
A broken tree once green and strong now to the vines and bugs belongs. Never really gone. Finally found your place to be while songs live on eternally. So you too live on. Were you here today would you run away? Or would you seize the day were you here today? Would you seize the day were you here today? When did the colors start to dim? How did your pink moon turn so grim or careless in the night? Were I before you in my doubt, would you smile or would you shout, ‘if only I had seen the light’? Were you here today would you run away? Or would you seize the day were you here today? Would you seize the day were you here today? Life can turn on a dime. You were far ahead of your time. Were you here today would you run away? Or would you seize the day were you here today? Would you seize the day were you here today?

When I awake my dear I will find you here. And all the roads you paved will lie ahead for you. You gave apologies when too weak to make me tea. You saved your family, now how can we save you? When last I saw your face you sang amazing grace. And all you suffered for, was to join your love, the Lord.

Today another son lost his mother, a father lost a son when somebody decided the answer was a gun. Why are so many dying? Judged by their skin, so senseless I just can’t stop crying. Hate has no place. We are one human race, so let us gather, to remember what matters. Anger’s misplaced. We are one human race, let’s come together. We can be better. We’ve got to do better. “This should not have happened,” another vile racist act. “We try to be good people,” he cried “why won’t you love us back?” When will you learn that your hate and your words become weapons? When will we all make our voice heard to call out the haters? Hate has no place. We are one human race, so let us gather, to remember what matters. Anger’s misplaced. We are one human race, let’s come together. We can be better. We’ve got to do better. How many people will die before we come to our senses? How can we learn how to love if we keep building fences? Hate has no place. We are one human race, so let us gather, to remember what matters. Love is the way. We are one human race, let’s come together. We’ve got to do better. ‘Cause we need each other.

I find myself aboard a train and I awake to sounds of rain. I feel something in my hair. Looking all around I see my sister reaching out to me to pull flowers from my hair. She says… Worry no more. Let’s put behind us what happened before. Worry no more, Dear, as long as we are together there’s nothing to fear. Clouds part, the sun comes out, colored balloons are all about and that’s not the strangest thing. I swear I see a group of bears playing the game musical chairs and I hear them sing. Worry no more. Let’s put behind us what happened before. Worry no more, Dear, as long as we are together there’s nothing to fear. My sister shares a telling glance as if to say let’s take a chance, takes my we come from a long line of women with courage in their blood. I find myself up in a tree and I awaken suddenly; I feel flowers in my hair. hand and she explains, “we’ll never know if we don’t try.” “Geronimo!” we both cry as we leap right off the train. Worry no more. Let’s put behind us what happened before. Worry no more, Dear, as long as we are together there’s nothing to fear. Worry no more, Love, We come from a long line of women with courage in their blood.

Pants rolled to my knees; walking through the field to reach the creek. Big Sis holds my hand, tells me to watch out there may be bees hiding in the grass. Worries are like sand, quickly running through our fingers. The water cools my feet. I reach down to catch a tadpole. Put it in a jar. I will let it go just after I show it to my mom. Worries are like sand, quickly running through our fingers. Hands small, trees tall, eyes wide, I will hide. Big dreams, ice cream, things are smaller than they seem. Pink tights, night lights, rag doll, dodge ball. So shy, white lies, I know you are but what am I?
